Why Purchase A PDA?Some basic reasoning behind
purchasing a PDA
Why Purchase a PDA
I’ve heard some people liken a PDA to a gameboy, but actually
the two are very different. PDA’s are useful tools, gameboys
aren’t exactly considered as a toy! There are many different
things you can do with your PDA, including:
Making notes
Email – Send and Receive
Organize your schedule
Admittedly there are some games on your PDA, but it’s not like
a gameboy! PDA actually stands for Personal Digital Assistant,
it’s actually a computer which is small enough to fit in the
palm of your hand. It’s amazing how modern technology has
miniaturized everything. My PDA is more powerful than my first
computer, and it’s a fraction of the size!
There are two popular operating systems for PDA’s, these are
Pocket PC (Windows), and Palm. Although PDA’s are all unique
they share the same basic features:
Calendar – You can use this to organize your life. All of your
meetings and appointments can be stored here
Memo – Write memos to remind yourself
Calculator – Work out equations without making your head hurt!
To-Do List – Reminds you what needs to be done
Address Book – Keeps your contact details safe and secure
Keyboard – Tap a virtual keyboard on the screen to type into
applications
Character Recognition – Write on the screen instead of tapping
a small virtual keyboard.
Email – Write and receive email using wireless internet or
through your computers internet connection
Backlight – Allows you to see the screen even if it’s dark.
PDA’s are well suited to people that have to note things down,
if you’ve ever written anything on a napkin or in a planner so
you don’t forget then you would probably benefit from buying a
PDA. PDA’s are also quite entertaining, you can not only play
games on them, but you can also watch films on them!
Some people that done like computers may be scared at the
thought of buying a PDA, however this doesn’t have to be so
scary, it’s much easier to use a pocket pc than it is a fall
blown pc.
