Organizing the Master Bedroom
De-cluttering your Bedroom
A bedroom should only be used for one purpose, well ok
actually two! However many people collect clutter in their
bedroom because they have nowhere else to put it. When we tidy
the house when someone is coming we often sling all of the junk
into the bedroom because we know that nobody will go there.
After a while we just forget that we put the piles of junk,
then when we go to bed we’re too tired to do anything with all
of the stuff. It will just get piled up on the floor and then
added to.
You should start by sorting out all of the clutter, look at
anything that doesn’t belong in your bedroom and then decide
where it belongs. Once you have everything organized into
groups you can easily place these things where they belong. You
don’t even have to get that bothered with tidying them up, just
make sure they’re in the right room! It’s a start at least!
All bedrooms have a lack of closet space, to resolve this
common problem you should consider investing in some new
storage units and cabinets, these will help you to maximize the
space available in your bedroom. You can even use a specialist
service to design a customized closet storage solution, you can
of course do this all by yourself with just a little
practice.
It can seem a little daunting when you start to look at
organizing your bedroom, however if you break the project up
into smaller projects it can be easier. Start by sorting out
all of your clothes, put them into groups depending on the
season which they get worn in. You can then put the out of
season clothes into storage boxes, perhaps even under your bed
in plastic boxes.
When you are looking through all of your clothes you should
make sure that you try things on. If they don’t fit or you
don’t need them then you should consider getting rid of them.
If your clothes still fit but you don’t think you’ll wear them
again then you should still consider giving them away. Don’t
just throw them away, try to give them to a charity shop.
Sorting out your clothes can save vital storage space in your
bedroom closets. Another clutter magnet is dresser tops, these
tend to accumulate all kinds of things. You should look at
what’s on top of your dressers and remove anything that
shouldn’t be there. If you’re at a loss where to put things
then you can keep small items and lotions in baskets. You could
put plastic boxes in your draws in order to keep small items
safe without getting them lost.
Your bedroom should be the one room in the house which is a
relaxing place to be, you need to be able to sleep easily in
this room. By making the environment a nicer place to be you
should be able to make this easier.
Organizing the Bathroom
There’s never enough space in the bathroom, you’ll find most
are cluttered with makeup and hundreds of different beauty
products. My wife uses most of the space, however that’s not to
say I don’t have anything in there.
The best way to sort your bathroom out is to look through
all of your makeup and beauty products. If any of it is past
its use by date then you should throw it away. Then take
another look at your makeup and decide which you don’t use. If
you have more of one of each item then considers storing it
somewhere else out of the way. As you use something up you
should replace it with a new one.
Counter space in your bathroom can be very easy to clutter,
however you can neaten things up with some nice decoration.
Using clear canisters are very useful because you can see when
you are running low on soap and shampoo.
Adding hooks to the back of doors or on the wall is a great
space saving way to hang up towels and bath robes. These hooks
will encourage people not to leave their towels cluttering up
the floor. You should only keep one set of towels out for each
person, keep all of your other towels in your airing cupboard
or closet.
Medicine cabinets often accumulate lots of things, I know
ours is almost at bursting point! Start by throwing anything
away that’s out of date, make sure children can’t get them when
throwing it away. If you have any tablets without labels on
them then defiantly throw them away. Only keep useful medicines
in your cabinet, if it runs out then be sure to replace
it.
When it comes to a man’s shaving supplies they can be stored
on a shelf, perhaps in an attractive box. A rack by the shower
would also be very practical.
You do need to clean your bathroom on a regular basis, to
stop your bathroom getting dirty you need to keep cleaning
supplies tucked away. These can be kept in a basket which can
be kept under the sink. You do need to make sure any container
you use is child proof. You should put all of your cleaning
supplies in the box so that you have everything you need.
