Organizing the Laundry Room
Keeping your Laundry Room Tidy
I’ve yet to meet anyone that actually likes to do the laundry,
however it’s something that you have to do. By making sure your
laundry room is kept tidy and organized it should make the job
go much quicker. If you move things around it might take a long
time to adjust, however after a little time it will soon become
second nature. By speeding this up you will have more time to
spend with your family.
If you regularly do laundry on certain days then get your
family to sort through all of their washing. Instead of having
just one washing basket get a few different ones, make sure
everyone knows where to put what. You could even show them
where you keep the stain stick so that they can treat the
stains before anything is washed.
You need to make your laundry room more efficient, do this by
storing everything you need close to hand. Keep all of the
detergents next to the washing machine. You could build a shelf
next to the washer if there isn’t already one there.
You must regularly clean the filters on your dryer, note
this down on a calendar so that you know. You should also make
sure your family knows what can be washed, show them how to
tell if something can only be dry cleaned. One way of doing
this is taking photographs of examples and sticking them to the
wall.
After drying them try to hang everything straight up so that
you don’t have to iron them later. Make sure you have lots of
hangers available and somewhere to hang everything without it
getting crumpled.
Sort your clothes after washing, put them into boxes if you
don’t think you will be using them again. If your clothes are
broken and you don’t think you will be able to repair it then
discard it. There is no point hanging onto something that you
will probably never use again. If your clothes are too small
then you can put them into boxes until you know what you’re
going to do with them.
