Organizing Childrens Rooms
Children’s rooms are almost always very messy, it can be
difficult to keep them clean unless of course you don’t let
your children use them! However there are some great tips that
can be used to improve the state of your Childs room. You
should try to train them to keep it nice themselves. This will
mean you don’t have to spend so long cleaning.
You should start by making a list of everything in the room. If
your child is old enough turn it into a game and get them to
help. Place things that are too small, never used, out of
season and things to keep on separate piles. Also sort toys out
and get rid of any of them that are broken or unwanted. The key
here is to keep it fun, you could race to fill up the
boxes!
Now you should sort through the boxes of toys that you have
sorted out. Look through the broken toys, see if it is possible
to fix them or find any of the missing parts. If they can’t be
fixed then get rid of them.
Next you should start to look through the toys that your
child doesn’t want anymore, take a look and decide what you
want to do with them. You could give them to family and
friends, or you could sell them. Ask your child if they would
like to donate them to charity. Children can be very generous
and kind if you give them chance! Then look through the toys
that your child wants to keep, you will have to find a way of
storing all of these wanted toys.
Decide whether or not you have enough room to store all of
these wanted toys. You can use plastic buckets and boxes to
store food. My personal favorites are the ones that are
stackable and have draws. You can even get some with wheels
which make them very easy to move. Try to encourage your child
just to play with one toy at a time, and put back whatever they
have out so you don’t have to.
All children grow quickly, which means they outgrow their
clothes. You should look through the closets at the start of
each season and sort out anything that isn’t wanted anymore.
Involve your children as much as possible and ask what they
think. When you are deciding what to do with unwanted clothing
why not consider giving it to charities? Many charities would
be only too glad to take children’s clothing off your
hands.
Out of season clothing can be stored in under the bed boxes,
preferably plastic ones and make sure they have lids. When you
change the seasons of cloths you must make sure that everything
still fits. Get your children to put any small clothes to one
side when they notice them.
When the room has been sorted out try to encourage the child to
look after it and keep it tidy, it may be easier said than done
but it’s not impossible!
